Stacey Guthrie,
LPC-S, NCC, RPT
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist as well as a National Certified Counselor and National Certified School Counselor.
I received my bachelor’s, masters and specialist degrees from the University of Mississippi
I have 28+ years working with children, and I have an innate ability to see things from a child’s point of view. I didn’t set out to be a counselor, but my journey took me exactly where I needed to be.
Play is a natural expression for children and the best way to meet their needs. Play is a safe way for children to tell their stories.
I have a passion for helping children and parents understand how the brain works and why children act the way they do. Behavior is a language, and understanding that language is the key to developing better ways to communicate thoughts and feelings.
I have experience with children from a variety of backgrounds and with a variety of issues. I typically work with children ages 3-I2 and enjoy helping them explore their feelings in a safe and comfortable way. Children need a place to feel a sense of mastery and control over their own thoughts, feelings, and actions. Play therapy allows for that experience.
Children who learn to overcome trauma and understand their self-worth grow into adults who contribute to the success of our world.
