Lauren Simpson, Intern
Lauren is a current graduate student at Delta State University working on her Masters in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her previous education includes a Bachelors and Masters in Science Education from the University of Mississippi where she went on to teach for two years. During those years, Lauren nurtured her passion for working with adolescents as they navigate the changes and challenges of this specific stage of life. In the meantime, she has continued to learn more about how to support educators and professionals experiencing burnout, those struggling to set boundaries, individuals with religious trauma, and those struggling with various forms of addiction, as well as LGBTQ individuals across the lifespan.
Her perspective in working with clients is that no one knows you better than yourself, and counseling facilitates learning more about yourself. Her favorite ways to do this include analyzing books and movies through bibliotherapy, utilizing parts work from a systems perspective, ACT, DBT, and relational-cultural therapy. Most of all, she loves to get to know who she works with and find experiences that work best for them.
